How do i pay for things will paypal?

I have just purchased an item on ebay and am trying to use pay pal to pay for the item. Do i need to transfer money into my pay pal account and then send it to the seller, or will pay pal take the money from my bank account and send it directly to the seller?

PayPal will take it from your bank and it'll get sent to the seller BUT sometimes it goes through as an echeque (electronic cheque). This won't cost you or the seller any extra but sometimes they can take 2 weeks to clear.

I've run a business on eBay for 6 years and have still never been able to work out why echeques occur.
