Resolved Question
Are the companies buying gold on tv any good or should i go to local jeweller?
I have a load of gold jewellery from my 'chav' phase in the early 2000s! i was thinking of sending off for one of those gold envelopes they advertise on tv, but my mum says i will be better off going to my local jewller. has anyone done either? thanks!

The ones on TV are scam artists, I have heard of a few cases where people send them jewellery already been valued by a local jeweller, the gold company then state the piece is worthless and state if you want to item back you must pay £25 for them to re post it back to you, if you don't reply within 10 days they will discard it. Funnily enough they never received the request for the item back and people lose there gold items when the company keeps it without having to pay any money for it. Totally legal as it's all stated in the agreement you sign when you send the items off. I wouldn't trust them, take it to a local jeweller and see what they'll pay for it.

- Go to a few jewelery stores in your area, and ask how much they are paying for gold. Do not send it to any of the one advertising on TV. I tried sending a small amount for the ones advertising on tv as a test, and got paid 18% less than the jeweler in town.
- Go to the Ones On TV because there approved!
