Does anyone how to claim lost mail posting to overseas sent by Royal Mail?

Resolved Question

Does anyone how to claim lost mail posting to overseas sent by Royal Mail?

I would like to claim lost mail posting to Italy. I have post the item by standard airmail parcel to Italy recently and have got the certificate of posting in hand. Could I just fill in the Lost, damaged, or delayed inalnd mail - claims form from the post office in stead?

Thank a million!!

Print off the above form, fill it in and send it off.

I'd like to add to the other answer who says that once its in Italy its no longer Royal Mail's responsibility.
This is partly true, but your claim is still treated in the same way, it will just take longer. Royal Mail deals with your claim, but they have to get in touch with the Italian Postal Service, and get them to make their inquiries. I also believe that they'll have to get in touch with the airline too.
After sending off your form, it may take a while to get any sort of response, but hold on - as I said, International mail takes a while to get a claim on, because it involves other third parties that Royal Mail has to deal with.

Print out the relevate form and send it to the Royal Mail. Make sure you provide the the info/evidence needed. When I claimed it was very quick.
  • When you say recently, how recently?

Double check the right thing to do with the post office, as you're saying the claims form is for 'inland' mail, i.e. not items sent abroad.
  • If it reached Italy, then it is no longer Royal Mail's responsibility.
