Resolved Question
EBAY: what is the maximum time allowed between winning and having to pay [either with or without the sellers..?
consent?
i have a problem.....i want to buy a bargain dvd box set, that is bound to get snapped up, but i have overspent on my credit card and dont want to draw on it again, untill the current amount is paid.
also, the boxed set is a gift for my sister, whose birthday is 6 weeks away. so i would like to buy it now, but pay for it in about a month.
i have already explained this to the seller but havnt yet had a reply.
my question is, what can i do thats within the rules if the seller isnt responsive?----how long can i delay payment if i choose to buy-it-now, without the seller going along with my proposal?
what do the rules say, and what is your advice?

you have 7 days to pay, if you fail to pay within that period then the seller may apply for a non paying bidder notice.
If you get 2 of those your account will be suspended untill both reports have been settled, but even then sellers may cancell your bids as you would have a very poor rating.

- Once you've won or bought an item, you need to pay within 7 days or the seller may open a case to work this out with you on eBay's Resolution Centre.
Ebay says:
All sellers appreciate quick payment and most post after receiving payment, so it's good to pay as soon as you win an auction or buy a Fixed Price item. If you make an online payment, you can just click the Pay Now button in the email notification or on the item page. The seller will be paid and know to post your item immediately. Otherwise, we recommend paying within three days of the sale. Some sellers include information on when they expect to be paid in their listings.Source(s):
- most sellers will give you a week to pay but wont post the item until it is ready. it depends on the seller to be fair.
if its a popular item with loads watching they may say they want payment straight away or within 7 days and therefore would rather you didnt bid, i would wait until the seller gets back to you.
if they dont then if you do bid pay in 7 days otherwise you face a no payer strike, and will have to deal with a very cheesed off ebayer, esp if they need the money for something, you never know, they maybe hard up and need it to buy their kids birthday present!!
