I have a few bits I could trade in and am a bit sceptical so was wondering if anyone had any experience of any of them.

  You should be looking to get about 80% wholesale value for your gold. These companies offer between 10 and 20% (not including the postal costs, which they charge to you and an admin charge)
  
  go to a high street pawn brokers if your desperate to get rid of your gold.
  
  you`ll get far more than you would with one of these fly by night companies.

Paid for something i never recived, been ripped off, pls help?

I made a purchase over the internet and paid using my visa debit card. this was on 14 dec, iv not received anything and have mailed the company 3 times and had no response. iv tried calling their number but it's no longer in use. My bank have been no help in trying to get my money back, can anyone advise anything else?

The bank doesn't care and won't do anything. The positive is that you used your VISA card for the transaction. Access your VISA account online and dispute the charge. You may have to provide supporting documents such as the receipt and proof that you attempted to contact the merchant along with the merchant's response. If you have a good credit history then VISA will issue the credit to reimburse you. If your credit history is questionable then you will get a provisional credit until an investigation is complete. They have a checks and balances process to determine if you're lying or trying to scam VISA.

In the future, don't use the debit card - always use a VISA or MASTERCARD credit card for on-line purchases. They are very simple to dispute and track transactions.

• Dispute the charge with your VISA company. I believe that they are only liable if you use a credit, not credit card, but it's difficult to know what else you can try, and what have you to lose?

Unpaid Customer: left the store without paying, but i have his details?

Hi,

I would much appreciate if you can comment on below.

I have had a customer at the store few weeks ago who have failed to pay for the goods and services and simply left the store. The sum is not massive, £80, but still..... We don't have facilities to accept debit/credit card payments, so he left the store claiming to get to the cash machine and back. He left his docs (i realised that they were rubbish only when he left) but one sheet had his contact name, address etc. After several unanswered phonecalls I emailed the person, he stated that will arrange his "staff member" to bring the payment over. Its been weeks since, he doesn't respond to phonecalls neither emails.

I was wondering what can be done at this stage? I really want them to realise that such behaviour is unlawfull. I have his contact details, work address and even CCTV evidence as well as one email in reponse which confirms that he is fully aware of this fact.

Can i report this matter to the police or other organisations?

u shouldve reported it to the police in the first instance, not wait to contact the person first. if he turned around and said u were hassling him or threatening him u would be in trouble now

• If he owes you money and you have his address, you can issue a County Court summons using the small claims procedure. Write down as much information as possible, go to the Court Office and the clerk will tell you what to do next.

• I would phone the police. There isnt really a lot else you can do at this stage. They will hopefully go round and get him to pay. Did he take the goods? What services did he not pay pay for?

• Just file a police report; this has happened to my sister many times, unfortunately. She has only once been lucky enough to get the guys name, and the cops sorted it all out for her.

Why there is some number written on my bank notes 224-30?

i withdraw a large amount in the bank and there is some number stamped in blue ink on the £20 notes 224-30 .... why is that?

Is is illegal to deface bank notes and yet shop and banks do it all the time. Security firms even spray the notes red when a bank box is stolen and opened.

• banks tend to scribble things on notes when they're counting them up, Helps them keep track on how much is in each pile and stuff, nothing to worry about.

I payed by pay yourself machine in a supermarket. The machine failed to register my payment. My goods were?

confiscated in front of shoppers. I had to wait 24hrs for the machine to be checked.It was found faulty and my money was returned. Since I had no idea who was checking my money I had a anxious 24hrs waiting.
My question is; With these machines is it possible to end up with a criminal record just by going shopping?

"Is it possible" = yes. many things are possible.

Has it ever happened ??? Not that I'm aware of, try google for newspaper reports ...

When you use a machine, of any type, there is a some element of risk .. we have all used vending machines that have 'eaten' our money & car park ticket machines that failed to issue a ticket (or a ticket that has not been printed). Even cash machines ('hole in the wall') have been known to dispense £10's instead of £20's .. (you only hear about the ones that give out £20's instead of £10's :-) ) ...

Plainly you have to balance the convenience against the consequences of machine failure .. this is why I avoid using automated check-outs at petrol stations or unattended check-outs at supermarkets ..

Will a shop take back this item?

I bought some leggings three weeks ago as a present but they didn't fit them so now I want to take them back. Most shops let you take them back before 4 weeks (it's only been three) but I've lost the reciept. I can tell them the exact day I went and I can also say that I bought a leather jacket on that day also but unfortunately I don't remember the name of the person that served me in the shop. The shop aws H&M do you think they'll let me take it back? I don't want to go all the way there just to change it to find that they won't let me!!! Thanks

• They might not offer a refund without a receipt, but they will most likely permit you to make an even exchange for a different size or merchandise of equal value. I recommend calling them and asking. Then you'll know for certain.
• They should let you, argue abit and say i want to see the manager. they'll soon take them back :)

Copyright question: Re-selling t-shirts?

Me and my friend always have little random sayings or cartoons that we pretty much draw all over our shoes, bags, school books etc, but the other day our friend asked us to include his band name in one of them. We're now thinking about putting the slogans on t-shirts and then trying to sell them...advertising for us and them...
Also, would we have to contact the company who makes the t-shirts and ask for permission...?
As you can tell, we're pretty clueless, neither of us took business studies, and are just filling our lessons with little ideas :)
